GOOGLE on Monday unveiled a new $US399 tablet and smartphone powered by its Android mobile operating system, as the Internet giant continues its quest to crack Apple's grip on the tablet market and keep other rivals at bay.
Google said the devices are part of an expansion of its line of "Nexus" devices, which Google sells through its online store and co-develops with hardware partners to show off the latest version of Android.

The announcement Monday came through Google's blog after the threat of Hurricane Sandy caused the company to cancel a special event in New York.

15-Year-Old Designs Unique iPhone Wallet Case

When 15-year-old Vojtech Svarc was unhappy with the iPhone case market, he figured the best solution was to whip one up himself.
Svarc wanted an iPhone case that also carried the contents of his wallet — and didn't force him to remove the case to use the actual phone. After four months of research and development, the determined entrepreneur came up with the iWallie.
Unfortunately, a 15-year-old's pockets aren't too deep, so Svarc and his dadturned to Indiegogo to help raise the $10,000 needed to turn the concept into a salable product that others could benefit from.
Check out Svarc's product in the video above.

3D printers could construct Moonbase

London based architects Foster and Partners have revealed designs for a building
on the Moon that could be constructed from the material already on its surface.

Foster+Partners have joined with ESA to test the feasibility of 3D

Working with the European Space Agency, the plan involves launching a
capsule which includes an inflatable structure to deploy near the Moon’s
southern pole. This structure will then be covered with an outer shell built by
                        3D printers.
The robot operated printers would use soil from the Moon, known as regolith,
                        to build the layered cover.
Designed to initially house four people, the firm said there was plenty of scope
                        for wider expansion.

Once assembled, the inflated domes are covered with a layer of 3D-
printed lunar regolith by robots to help protect the occupants (click to

Buildings on Earth by the architect firm include Wembley Stadium and
                           Hong Kong   International airport.

We may just get that moonbase yet, children of the 70′s and 80′s

Sony Xperia Z used as an underwater cam, makes a cool 3 minute video

Most smartphones don’t usually fancy dipping their toes in swimming pools, but not the Sony Xperia Z. The flagship smartphone was taken for some underwater action by an early adopter.

With its IP57 certification, the Xperia Z doesn’t even break a sweat shooting the 3-minute underwater video.
The video looks pretty remarkable, and as an added bonus the microphone manages to capture some pretty clear underwater sounds as well.
The owner of Sony’s latest flagship advises that if you take your Xperia Z on such an adventure, just hit the video recording button prior to jumping in the water, as the touchscreen, understandably, doesn’t work underwater.
Anyhow, here’s the video itself.
